Adoniram Silva: Nov. 25, 1945 - Aug. 27, 2008

Dear friends:

Many of you have been blessed by his artistic talent through this blog and I wish to thank you all for offering your support through prayers and donations. Don was an incredible person whose actions reflected the love of Christ. He was a teacher, a preacher, a leader, a creative force, a selfless man who sacrificed his life for his family's well-being. In short, he left an indelible impression in all those who knew him. We thank God for his life and, personally, for lending me such an amazing uncle.

Father, we lift our hearts in gratitude for the life of Don our brother now gone from among us; for all that Don was to those who loved him, and for everything in Don's life that reflected you, we thank you.
We thank you for the privilege of knowing Don and sharing in his life through his art.
Help each of us to lean upon you as Don did. May almighty God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit bless us and keep us, now and forever more.

I had been so looking forward to Don's return from Colombia and having the opportunity to be inspired by his weekly offering of lectionary based graphics. When I logged on today I was stunned to read of his sudden death. What a loss to his family and to our Christian church, who have been blessed by his presence and the sharing of his gifts.
May all who grieve Don's death find comfort in the One who promises to be with us always, hope in the One who died so we might live, and love in the One who loves beyond all measure, this day and forever.
Sharing in your loss,

How many eyes and minds were lifted to sights and thoughts of the divine because of Don's artwork? More than you will ever know ... .

Stunned. In the few months I have visited this site I came to rely on him, even when I chose not to use the graphics. This is a great loss for the church I can only imagine the loss you must feel.

May the peace of God which passes all human understanding be with you.
